For everyone hopping on the Easter Egg Treasure Hunt my letter is T!
Welcome to ALL THINGS GIRL! I took a couple of weeks off to finish a WIP but I’m back today and I’ve brought a friend.
Please welcome my sister author at Bradley Publishing, Lauren Pilla!
Okay Lauren, ALL THINGS GIRL readers need to know. Describe the shoes you are currently wearing and what you love about them.
Oh shoes, I love shoes! Well I’m wearing black ballerina flats with a bow on the front. They are so comfortable and sexy. I can wear them with just about anything.
When and why did you begin writing?
I started really writing in about 2010. For years I had stories running around inside my head, but I didn’t do anything about it. Then I joined this group on Goodreads where I met the greatest group of girls and was encouraged to give it a try, write a one or two page story and let someone else read it. It was horrible, grammar wise, but I loved it. I felt so proud of myself.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Me? A writer? Yeah I’m still having a hard time with this. I know I’m technically a writer but I just can’t believe it.
Lauren’s new book, Demon Protector, just released on March 19th. So tell us, how did you come up with the title?
Ah Demon Protector. I was halfway through the story before I came up with the title. My poor demon was having the damndest time being a protector, but he… I don’t want to give it away.
Oh, she’s a tease, isn’t she? LOL
What book are you reading now?
Right now I’m reading Branded As Trouble by Lorelei James. MMM… Cowboys!
What inspires you as a writer?
Inspiration happens all over for me. Pictures, music, people watching, even TV. There is a world of inspiration out there.
Do you ever experience writers block? How do you over come it?
Of course! The muse takes a vacation often, but I get her to return, with some music or sexy pictures. Who can resist sexy pictures? Sometimes she shows up when I least expected it though, like driving to work. I try not to force it. If I stare at the computer it never works.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
My favorite… Oh there is so many. J.R. Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kresley Cole, and Gena Showalter. Their characters are sarcastic, sexy, witty, just so loveable. They are amazing authors.
I love the cover of Demon Protector! Who designed the cover of your book? Were you involved in the process?
The talented and awesome Jennifer Bradley of Bradley Publishing. I gave Jennifer my ideas and she just made this amazing cover. I couldn’t have asked for more. I love it!
Do you have any advice for other writers?
I’m sure they hear it all the time but it’s true. Don’t give up!!! Whenever I have doubts about myself, or say that’s it… I just can’t seem to stay away from my computer. I keep thinking that I will regret not continuing what I love to do (even if I get rejected). Creating stories is what I love. A world of characters that takes me and my readers to another place if only for a little while.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I love my readers and I want to say thank you.
Scarlet was a normal, shy, woman until the day her world is turned upside down. Rescued by her dream man, she soon learns he’s more than just human, and so is she.
Bo, an ex demon soldier, who once fought for the evil leader, Ryu, has been tasked with protecting Scarlet. After a few days of watching her, he instantly became fascinated. As the battle looms ahead to destroy his former leader, he’s got to decide what he wants more- revenge, or the powerful witch who’s captivated him.
