ALL THINGS GIRL sweet treat: Tina Vaughn

I have a sweet treat for you today ~ author Tina Vaughn!

Tina and I met on Twitter while tweeting on the subject of pretty shoes. She tweeted me a cute pair of platform pumps and I was an instant Tina Vaughn fan. What’s going on with my sole-sister? Let’s find out!

SB: Thanks for joining me today on ALL THINGS GIRL! Inquiring minds want to know: describe the shoes you are currently wearing and what you love about them.

TV: At the moment I’m actually in my bare feet. LOL But, my favorite pair would be my Michael Antonio Tandice-Rep heels because they are gorgeous and affordable. They are strappy, multi-colored, faux snakeskin with an open toe and back zipper. They have a slight platform and tapered stiletto. sigh They look great with skinny jeans. My husband bought them for me…probably because I posted the buy link to his Facebook wall.

SB: Zipper in the back? Oh, you must send me a picture of those cuties! So, when did you first consider yourself a writer?

TV: I guess I’ve always considered myself a writer. I started scribbling stories  in spiral notebooks as soon as I learned how to spell “cat.” Author? Now that’s different. Even though I just celebrated my first release, I’m not sure that it will ever fully sink in that I really am a published author. LOL

SB: Congratulations! That’s quite an accomplishment! What inspired you to write your first book?

TV: My husband. I’d read a book and didn’t like the ending. I complained about it and he suggested I write my own. So I did.

SB: Aww, sweet! How did you come up with the title?

TV: I love it when I’m reading and the actual title is a line from the book. I was writing a particularly emotional turning point for my characters when the phrase “no sweeter love” appeared during a conversation between Emily and Ryan. As soon as I’d written it, I knew I had my title.

SB: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

TV: That second chances aren’t a myth and forgiveness is key to moving forward.

SB: That’s a great message and one that many can identify with, I’m sure. What book are you reading now?

TV: I’m reading The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst. Love this book! Up next is The Nurse’s Not So Secret Scandal by Wendy Marcus, Reclaimed Surrender by Riley Murphy and Sara’s Smile…of course.

SB: LOL! The check is in the mail ;-) What inspires you as a writer?

TV: Everything. Songs, articles, scenery, my friends and family. I think being able to find a story in even the smallest of ideas or moments is a necessity for a writer.

SB: I agree! Can you share a little of your current work with us?

TV: I’m finishing up Jolene’s story now. Jolene is Emily’s best friend in No Sweeter Love. Here’s a snippet from Jolene’s POV:

“She just needed a moment to gather her thoughts, to reconcile what she’d been expecting with what she’d actually found. Kinda like one of those poor contestants on Let’s Make a Deal who’d hoped for a car, opened the door and found a year’s supply of processed cheese spread instead.”

SB: Sounds fantastic and I love your humor! Do you have any advice for other writers?

TV: I always laugh when I get a question like this because I still don’t feel that I’m qualified to offer advice on anything. LOL Most days, I’ll humbly admit, I have no clue what I’m doing. So I guess the only advice I have is to keep writing and don’t give up. Perseverance is key.

SB: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

TV: Whoa. I have readers? LOL Seriously, I just want to say that I’m shocked and humbled by the support and wonderful feedback I’ve received. It’s overwhelming. Thank you all so much.

Thank you, Tina!

Here’s a little about Tina and her debut release, No Sweeter Love.

Tina Vaughn is an award-winning journalist and romance author who’s always dreamed of being a writer. As a toddler, she pretended to be Lois Lane. While in elementary school, she wrote her friends’ love letters to their boyfriends in exchange for Mickey Mouse ice cream bars. In high school, she scribbled her first romance in a spiral notebook. Fast forward fifteen years… Tina is the editor of a community newspaper, which provides plenty of inspiration for the “small town, big scandal” romances she loves to write. She lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia with her husband and daughter, and is known for commemorating milestones with silver jewelry, tattoos and/or ice cream. Tina can be found on her website, Goodreads and Twitter @tinavaughn. Follow her, you’ll be happy you did!

No Sweeter Love blurb:

Welcome to Union
Population: 994
Town motto: Where no secret goes untold

His father’s death forces Dr. Ryan Williams to return to the home—and the woman—he’d left behind ten years earlier. Ryan knows it’s best to avoid Union sweetheart and police officer Emily Winters during his visit. But how? Stuck in this small town, fighting an attraction that hasn’t diminished over time, the sparks are unavoidable—and so are the rumors. The same rumors that made him leave Union in the first place…

Experience taught Emily to keep her guard—and her panties—up. Until Ryan returns as suddenly as he left, tempting her with promises she already knows he can’t keep. Or so she thinks. This new adult Ryan is one capable of forever and, God-willing, forgiveness. Because even as they learn to trust and love each other again, Emily knows once she reveals her secret, heartbreak is inevitable.

No Sweeter Love is available on Amazon, Ellora’s Cave and AllRomance Ebooks.
