ALL THINGS GIRL: Guest Blogger Dara Ames-”Why shouldn’t married people have hot sex?”

Welcome back to ALL THINGS GIRL, my weekly blog series about, well, all things girl! I have a fun treat for you today and her name is Dara Ames. I met Dara a couple of months ago during Six Sentence Sunday. Let me tell you, her six sentence snippets blew me away! I asked Dara to join me here to talk about the subject of her debut trilogy. Take it away, Dara!

Thanks so much, Sandra, for inviting me to your corner of the blogosphere! I’m so thrilled to come and hang with your readers!

I’m fairly new to the publishing side of erotica, though I’ve been an erotica reader for a long time. I mean, erotica’s hot, right?! Since I read a lot – and read fast – it seemed I was always searching for something new to read. After a while, I began to wonder…

“Where are all the married people in erotica?”

Obviously, married people have sex. Why shouldn’t married people have hot sex? When I couldn’t find examples of erotica featuring married couples, I decided to try my hand at writing. I’d actually been writing for some time – just not erotic fiction – so switching gears and letting my creative side spin romantic, erotic tales was actually pretty natural. And I figured I couldn’t be the only other woman in the world who’d like to read erotic stories they could picture themselves (and their spouses) in.

So… Married Ladies’ Erotica was born out of that desire. I like to think I’m putting the SEXY back in marriage! I mean, we married ladies can read a hot story and then put it into practice that night if we want. Think of it as having the perfect “lab”! I also wanted to portray really erotic sex as really emotional sex. To me, they go hand in hand, and the intense emotions make the physical sensations even more intense.

The following excerpt illustrates that, I think… that emotions and eroticism are closely intertwined. The snipped is from “Poolside”, the first story in the “Sexy Sides” trilogy featuring Jake & Emma Tyler. Jake is a pilot, and when he returns home after being gone for two days, he and his wife draw random sexual fantasies out of a bowl, then proceed to act them out. I hope you enjoy!

Jake lay utterly still beneath his wife, his erection wrapped in her tight, wet heat. Swamped with emotion, he took a moment to just feel, just be. These times were like anchors, holding him steady in a world where a thousand other things competed for his attention. Nothing would ever be as important as this, as Emma and the life they’d built. They were joined as intimately as two people could be, deep at the heart level.

It was that feeling that caused his hips to begin thrusting upward, searching for a way to get deeper inside her.

Emma was languid on top of him, and he loved the feeling of her pressed against him, draped across him. Spent from her crazy wild orgasm, she slowly began to come back to life as he moved inside her. She turned her head, her lips sliding along the skin of his neck, tongue trailing a line of fire toward his face. When her head lifted from his shoulder, dreamy eyes stared down at him, and a smug, satisfied smile curved lips that met his in a beautiful mix of tender wife and sexy woman.

“Love you,” she murmured against his mouth. “Love you so much.”

“Same goes, babe,” Jake said, one hand tunneling in her hair, the other clamping on her backside as he pumped harder.

He let the feelings build, finding a rhythm that suited him, pleased her. Let the desire climb, then plateau into long moments of sexual fog that clouded around them as they moved together in the hazy evening.

Thanks for visiting today, Dara!

I’ve read Poolside and I’m looking forward to diving into the other two soon. If you’re looking for a steamy snapshot into a smoking hot married couple’s life, try them out. You may even be out the next day shopping for glass bowls to hold your own “to-dos”.

Now, this makes for a happy Monday, two of my favs in the same place. Hi, Sandra. Hi, Dara. I read Curbside yesterday and wow, hot! Looking forward to Bedside. Emotional sex is the best to read, right on, Dara. Bringing the sexy back to marriage, love it. :)

Thanks SJ! I SO appreciate the comment and the compliment! And thanks again to Sandra for hosting me here!

I love your whole concept of erotic MARRIED sex, Dara! I hadn’t really thought about it until I read your post but it seems that most erotica ends when the couple gets married – if not before. I love the idea you’ve grabbed onto (pun intended!) of making married sex HOT!

  4. Great post! As a married woman I totally agree with the concept. Rarely have I read a story where the couple was married, but the few I have read were all the better because of the emotional connection between the characters. I very much look forward to checking out your stories Dara!

You couldn’t be more right! The emotional connection is vital for me. I will be checking these out. I haven’t seen married erotic books. I like where this is going.

Thank you for putting married erotic sex out there (its like it’s finally come out of the closet or something LoL) I have been married for 18 years and know that it is possible so now I am just glad to have some to read about as well. Thanks Carin

Great post. I will definitely be checking out your books. Being married myself for 20 years, I agree that married people can have hot sex, too.

Thanks so much for all the comments! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate knowing that other people like the idea of married erotica! For those that check out the stories, I hope you enjoy them! I’m working on a new stand-alone that I hope to have out later this fall!
    Thanks again!
